India claim thrilling victory to draw series against Sri Lanka

A superb partnership of 58 from Gautam Gambhir (21) and Virender Sehwag (64) helped India overcome a challenging run chase to level their Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka.

After another poor performance in the field by India Gambhir and Sehwag came out to bat looking to set a solid base in their run chase with the series on the line.

Sehwag in particular looked determined to win the game himself smashing Sri Lanka's bowling around the ground. The openers brought up their 50 partnership off 34 balls before Gambhir was run out going for a risky third run after a fielding error.

MS Dhoni joined Sehwag out in the middle and the big hitters scored 50 runs off just 29 balls before Sehwag was caught by Kaushalya Weeraratne on the boundary off the bowling of Lasith Malinga.

With their first victory in five games within sight Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh started to entertain the packed crowd hitting a number of big sixes before Dhoni was bowled by Dilhara Fernando.

With three overs to go India were now cruising to victory and they could even afford to see Suresh Raina run out in the 18th before the victory was sealed in style as Yuvraj Singh hit his 5th six of the day to seal victory and create Twenty20 history with the largest ever Twenty20 run chase.
